Course Structure

1st Term of Study: Energy + Building
The first term is focusend on the topics Building and Energy. After completion of the term, students are able to apply synergistic design strategies in the field of energy efficiency, building climatology, building physics, building and design quality.

2nd Term of Study: Energy + Building
The 2nd term is focuses on the topics of energy and city. Students are able to apply dynamic simulation tools and models in the field of thermodynamics, aerodynamics and lighting design. Based on the acquired building specialized theoretical knowledge and skills, the focus can be extended from single building on the connection of several buildings across the district to the level of the urban context. Therefore, the topics of urban ecology, urban climate, sustainable urban planning are content of this semester.

3rd Term: Construction on an international level
The focus of the 3rd Term is extended to sustainable design and building at international level. In addition to skills in project development, construction economics and building in different climatic zones crucial social skills in working with different planners are taught that are necessary for the international planning practice. Teaching content of the Term are building in different climatic zones (specialisation), project management, cost management, profitability calculations, negotiation, mediation and team leadership, intercultural communication and rhetoric. An important component of this course is an international excursion. In addition, the basics of scientific work are laid this semester in preparation for the Master's Thesis.

4th Term: Master’s Thesis
Based on the acquired knowledge, skills and competencies of the first three Terms the 4th Term is dedicated to the Master's Thesis.  Issues from the student’s individual work or research field can be edited.
